(given name)
Date Late-Meiji to Taisho period, ca1900/1920's.
Image Size Painting size: 8 1/4 x 40 1/2.
Technique Painting itself is of black and grey "sumi," soft pink and cream pigments, and a gold-pigmented dragon on tan paper.
Mounting Size Entire "kakejiku" (hanging scroll) is 9 1/8 x 63 1/2 overall.
Mounting Details Tanish paper (artwork) mounted on dark brown patterned paper; different cream colored "mica" patterned paper top/bottom; gold flower-patterned tan silk "ichimonji" brocade top/bottom; shiny black lacquered wood end-pieced bottom roller.
Condition Good to Very Good.
(Backside repairs at bottom roller; uniformly scattered faint foxing; few scattered marks; some wear/soiling. Some wrinkles but hangs nicely.)
Comments A boldly rendered painting of Mt Fuij, with a gold-pigmented dragon seen rising above--nicely mounted as a hanging scroll. Free-flowing "kanjj" script is likely a poem. A unique, truly one-of-a-kind artwork.
