Skillfully executed "bokashi" shading to blue water area, walkways, lantern, and grey background sky; extensive "black lacquer" to lantern and areas of right actor's kimono; extensive light "gauffrage" to right actor's brown kimono; areas of grey "burnishing" to left actor's outer robe; highly detailed carving. Black silhouetted background. (Area of lighter pigmentation upper left panel.)
Condition Very Good+++.
Strong colors. Full original margins (note "kento marks" upper right edge and corner each sheet), album-backed and joined. (Light stain bottom, edge-wear top right.)

Comments A delightful composition in which the diagonal wooden plank-ways give a three-dimensional appearance to what are usually seen as "flat" 2-dimensional prints. Lovely blue irises.
