| Impression |
Very Fine. Skillfully executed "bokashi" shading throughout print; extensive "gauffrage"
(embossing) to clouds and many irises; crisp key-lines, highly detailed carving. (Minor
"printer's crease" top and right image edges.) |
| Condition |
Excellent. Bright fresh colors. Very clean front and verso. (Slight mis-trimming
to lower/right corner; slight toning--otherwise flawless.) |
| Reference/Illus |
Narazaki #542; Hotei #570. |
| Comments |
Delightful springtime image--a sea of hundreds of colorful Japanese irises in bloom.
Personally "brush-signed" (left
margin) "Kawase Hasui" by artist on May 10, 1953--a very RARE plus.
"First Edition" printing. |
