Impression Excellent. Vertically burnished streaks of falling rain; nice "bokashi" shading to cartouche, arms, and kimono; burnishing to black obi, geta, and lantern; very crisp, highly detailed carving of detailing; against jet-black background.
Condition Very good. Excellent colors. Minor marks and flaws (binding holes at right margin; "thin" area edge (wide) left margin; minor wrinkle upper and lower right corners). Full original margins, unbacked.
Reference/Illus "The Bizzarre Imagery of Yoshitoshi," pl 39a/39b, pg 76-77; "The Splendid Decadent" pl 23, pg 50/132.
Comments Exquisite. Geisha Oume is shown committing the murder of Kamekichi, whose advances she had refused for some time. This print is the 11th in a series of only 20 prints that Yoshitoshi designed as a suppliment ot the Yamato Newspaper.
