Image Size 9 1/2 x 28 1/4 overall, "kakemono-e" format mounted as a hanging scroll (2 sheets joined, ea 9 x 13 1/2). Scroll itself is paper on paper, silk brocade top/bottom, wooden rollers, 11 3/4 x 61 1/2 overall, in very good condition.
Impression Very good. Crisp, highly detailed carving of individual hair-lines.
Condition Good+. Good colors (fading of fugitive pinks and greens). Repeated wormage (backed), light wear and flaws. Some curling, typical of scroll mounts.

Comments Striking. An exquisite portrait of an upper-class Edo bijin with a a folded letter clutched in her hand. Nicely mounted as a hanging scroll. Rarely seen "kakemono" by the master of "bijin-ga."
