| Reference/Illus |
Hotei #147--variant; Narazaki #147. Hotei barely mentions
this rare and UN-documented Hasui print (pg 74) by an "unknown" publisher. |
| Comments |
An extremely rare variant of Hasui's "Zojoji" masterpiece. This print was
"tipped" into the 1934 edition of "Japan Today & Tommorow"--a
publication highlighting the cultural arts of Japan.
Narazaki: "A masterpiece within Hasui's oeuvre, no other [print] received
as much praise." Watanabe Publisher's earlier (virtually identical) 1925
"Zojoji" is a 12% larger oban format. For the serious Hasui collector--RARE. |
